Sep. 3--Metropolitan Chattanooga added 2,000 jobs in the first full year of the Chamber of Commerce's "Tell the World" campaign, according to preliminary job figures released this week.
The employment gain was the biggest for the period in five years and was slightly ahead of the statewide growth pace in both Tennessee and Georgia, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. But the net increase in jobs over the past year was only 10 percent of the Chamber's 4-year goal of adding 20,000 new jobs by 2007.
