Sep. 3--SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, Va. -- This rural Western Tidewater county is banking on virtual reality.
In August the Virginia Economic Development Partnership awarded Southampton County one of five $15,000 matching grants to develop a virtual shell building.
The partnership's "Virtual Building" program enables communities to market a shovel-ready building to prospective buyers -- without the risk and up-front expense that has discouraged speculative shell building construction across the state.
