Sep. 3--The national economy is not as bad as some people think, according to Mark Vitner, senior economist with Wachovia Securities.
"Conventional thinking about the economy is too pessimistic," Vitner told about 80 people Thursday at the City Club of Rock Hill. "We've been looking better. We've had 11 months in a row of employment gains."
For the second year, Vitner gave predictions for the coming year at a breakfast sponsored by Wachovia Bank and Winthrop University's College of Business Administration.
