Competition for the high-end Macintosh desktop publishing (DTP) purchasing dollar seems destined for another round of muscle-flexing. While both Aldus PageMaker and major competitor QuarkXPress tend to release upgrades within months of each other, it is Aldus that came to market first this time, with its release of version 4.2.
PageMaker 4.2 contains more than 40 new or enhanced features. However, updating or upgrading is virtually painless because the new release so closely resembles earlier versions. Basic operations and the entire operating paradigm remain unchanged.
