The influenza epidemic this year has filled the Emergency Department at Primary Children's Medical Center in Salt Lake City with sick children and fearful parents. One reason for this fear is the prolonged fever of 104[degrees]F. While this is a significant fever, when treated appropriately, the fever lowers and the children feel much better.
None of the complications or deaths caused by this year's influenza epidemic has been a result of the height or duration of a fever.
