Sep. 6--Work has begun on Rosen Shingle Creek Resort in south Orlando, and when completed in late 2006 the 230-acre project will be one of the largest full-service convention resorts in Central Florida.
Longtime Orlando hotel owner and operator Harris Rosen, the region's largest independent hotelier, recently marked the first dig of dirt by signaling the start of a bulldozer as meeting planner clients and dignitaries looked on.
The 14-story resort will offer 1,500 oversized guest rooms and suites and more than 250,000 square feet of meeting space off Universal Boulevard near the Orange County Convention Center. That will place it among the top ...
