Richmond, Va. -- The Syracuse Salty Dogs only took two shots at the Richmond goal on Friday night, but one of them found the back of the net.
Richmond, meanwhile, sent 11 balls toward the Syracuse goal. But several key saves by Salty Dogs goalkeeper Byron Foss and a different strategy on hostile turf gave Syracuse a 1-0 victory over the Kickers and a leg up in their two-match playoff series in front of 2,776 fans at the University of Richmond Stadium.
