POP rockers Franz Ferdinand are celebrating after winning the prestigious Mercury Music Prize.
The four-piece were awarded the prize for their eponymous debut album less than an hour after they scooped the Band Of The Year title at the GQ Awards.
It was a clear victory for the populist vote at the Mercury event, which awards a [pounds sterling]20,000 cheque to the best new British album of the year.
Franz Ferdinand - who have sold more than one million copies of their album worldwide - were favourites with the bookmakers.
