Sep. 9--SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. -- A proposal that could put San Bernardino International Airport on the map as an air-freight facility advanced without opposition Wednesday night at a meeting of the city Planning Commission.

The commission unanimously approved a request by Hillwood Investments, the master developer for much of the airport, to award a development permit and amend the master plan to allow the construction of a 368,550-square-foot air-cargo facility for shipping giant DHL on approximately 34.9 acres at the airport.

The City Council will consider the development proposal next month.
