Sep. 11--TULPEHOCKEN SCHOOLS:

--Action: The Tulpehocken School Board has voted 9-0 to investigate whether a bank loan would be more cost-advantageous than refinancing a 1999 bond issue.

In August the board had authorized bond underwriters Legg Mason of Philadelphia to refinance the bonds to get a lower interest rate that could lower the district's payments by 2.75 percent.

Kathy Johnson, district business manager, said Tuesday that the original bond issue was for $9.9 million, and a partial refinancing was done last year.
