VALUE fund managers have seen stronger performance this year, according to Standard & Poor's.

Growth managers, particularly those focusing on large-cap companies, found themselves outclassed during the first half of 2004 by value-oriented and smaller-cap fund managers.

The S&P survey, which interviewed global equity fund managers, found the majority were still cautious on the outlook for the rest of the year, believing markets would stay flat.
