 COMMUNITY-BASED STRATEGIES SPUR RECRUITMENT 
   CHICAGO, April 29 /PRNewswire/ -- In Minnesota, it takes more than 

two years to recruit a physician for the smallest rural hospitals, according to a recent study by the Minnesota Hospital Association. Four rural hospitals in the state closed last year because their communities were unable to recruit a physician. In Minnesota, as in other states, recruiting doctors is becoming more and more difficult: 240 rural physicians are needed, up 20 percent from 1989, and the time required to recruit a rural doctor is up nearly 70 percent.
