The Portuguese utility EDP-Electricidade de Portugal S.A. (EDP) can go ahead with its planned purchase Spain's utility company Hidroelectrica del Cantabrico (Hidrocantabrico), the European Commission said on September 9. The transaction will give EDP sole control of the target company. EDP notified Brussels on August 5 of its proposed acquisition of all of Hidrocantabrico's shares.
