This is in response to the "San Francisco Snubbed" letter in the June 2004 Cruise Travel. I am a volunteer greeter at the San Francisco cruise-ship terminal. Although our basic goal is to make visiting San Francisco a happy experience, we are also very well acquainted with the increase in cruise-ship calls and those making San Francisco a seasonal home port. Now cruisers interested in sailing from San Francisco can roundtrip to Alaska and take roundtrip California Coastal Cruises to Mexico. There are many other opportunities for non-roundtrip cruises. With some Norwegian Cruise Line ships being American-flagged and thus exempt from relevant parts of the Passenger Vessel ...
