ISSUE: One of the most basic and fundamental rules of ethics in the practice of medicine is that physicians can not have sexual relationships with patients. However, in this extraordinary Maryland case, one physician who apparently considered himself the Don Juan of the profession, had sexual relationships with a series of patients. When the Maryland Board of Physician Quality Assurance (Board) became aware of his outrageous conduct, the physician's license to practice medicine was revoked.
