Australia's best representative abroad, Crown Princess Mary of Tasmania and Denmark, has been touring Greenland villages and towns with the Royal Family in June-July 2004 to help Inuit celebrate twenty-five years of Home Rule. Little but the exoticism of her formal Greenland folk dress has been reported here, but she got all the way to the far northern Polar Inuit village, Qaanaaq, where her husband had made many friends during a previous stay. What a shame they could not take along some Australian ministers who might relax sufficiently amid formidable Greenlandic and Danish hospitality to absorb some positive lessons.
