In Barb Yokom's opinion, preschool isn't necessarily about learning to read or practicing math skills.
In her eyes, it's all about being exposed to something different.
Five years ago, Yokom, who runs Naperville's School of Performing Arts, thought she'd give preschool children a chance to try something different.
She created Fine Arts Adventures, an early childhood program that focuses on art, music, dance and drama while retaining a traditional preschool format.
"Fine Arts Adventures is a lot like 'Sesame Street' - kids learn through the arts," she said.
