SEATTLE _ It might seem hard to believe but at one point on Friday night _ as late as the sixth inning _ the Mariners were tooth-and-nail with the red-hot Red Sox.
The Red Sox batted around twice, scoring five runs in the sixth and six runs in the seventh for a 13-2 victory before 38,100 at Safeco. And no, Ichiro did not get a hit in his four at-bats, ending his 14-game hitting streak and keeping him at 229 hits in his quest of George Sisler's season hit record of 257.
