ARLINGTON, Texas _ As an added attraction, Friday night's game at Ameriquest Field in Arlington offered a one-on-one showdown in a batting race.
The Rangers' Hank Blalock went head-to-head against Toronto's Eric Hinske for the lowest batting average in the American League since the All-Star break.
It will take a few 0-fors for Hinske to catch Blalock.
No major league hitter is having a worse time of it in the second half than Blalock. He has gone from All-Star third baseman to the poster child for what has brought down the Rangers.
