WHAT IS A SAUVIGNON BLANC?
Sauvignon blanc is the un-chardonnay. Sauvignon blanc is a dry, white wine, usually more tart on the tongue than the ubiquitous and buttery chardonnay. It originally comes from France but is made in many other wine regions today, with some of the best coming from New Zealand, California, South Africa and Chile. It is a very popular wine in the United States, but while it's always waiting in the wings, it has yet to knock chardonnay out of its starring role among popular whites. And for now, it looks as though pinot grigio, the Italian white wine, is overtaking sauvignon blanc as runner-up to chardonnay. ...
