Sep. 16--Kanawha City residents might have applauded and cheered at a Board of Zoning Appeals hearing over the opening of a video lottery parlor, but that was not the reason the board decided the club should close, city officials said Wednesday.
Over the past several months, Charleston officials have tried to keep a video lottery parlor called the Hot Spot Lounge and Caf from operating in the old Risk's Farmers Market in Kanawha City. In August, the city's Board of Zoning Appeals decided the club should not have been allowed to open this summer.
