SAN JOSE, Calif. _ Scott Peterson's lawyer charged ahead with his theory that kidnappers carved a living baby out of Laci Peterson's womb, showing jurors in court Thursday that the rib closest to the top of her uterus was frayed and could have been the entry point of a weapon.
No cutting marks were found on the bone, but decomposition could account for that, Mark Geragos said. A knotted piece of plastic twine around the baby's neck, a folded-forward ear and a short umbilical cord also indicated the baby was born alive, he said.
