The French Embassy in Nairobi has announced that France has granted Kenya a low-interest Euro 20 million loan to improve water supply and sanitation in the city of Kisumu (North-West) on the shores of Lake Victoria. Kisumu is the country's third city with a population of more than 400,000. The city is also the leading polluter of Lake Victoria, Africa's largest freshwater lake and the second largest in the world.
