Sep. 17--FREE FURNACE CHECKUP A REAL BLESSING: Christine Mueller's problem was similar to that of other elderly or handicapped homeowners on fixed incomes.
Should she spend $50 to $75 for an annual furnace inspection or use the money for something else, such as her heating bill.
"It's a real problem," said Mueller, 78, a native of England who married a Yank from Pittsburgh but never lost her delightful accent. "I'm blessed that these people are taking care of it for me."
