Open interest in western barley futures at the Winnipeg Commodity Exchange (WCE) has shown some growth in the past few weeks as commercial interest seems to be picking up in the market, said sources.
Total open interest in western barley futures, as of Sept. 16, was pegged at 11,060 contracts by the WCE. The data compares to an average open interest of roughly 10,000 contracts through July and August. Open interest in the commodity was below 9,000 in late June and lower still this past winter and spring.
