WASHINGTON - A survey last month of 37 independent-research companies found that 95% of them reported being adversely affected by the growing reluctance of money management firms to use commission payments for independent research.
The study was conducted by Investorside Research Association in Washington, which represents the independent-research industry. In a release, Investorside said the survey confirmed that there has been a "dramatic chill'' in the independent research industry because of uncertainty surrounding the Securities and Exchange Commission's study of the "soft dollar'' use of trading commissions to finance ...
