Cry enough and sometimes you'll get noticed. And perhaps even rocked back to sleep. That appears to be why Securities and Exchange Chairman William Donaldson recently issued a short statement that, though vaguely worded, has considerably soothed the fears of some in the independent research industry.
The Investorside Research Association, the trade group for the independent research industry, issued a press release on Sept. 9 stating that uncertainty over the future of soft dollars was hurting the business.
