Article: Hanshin Electric Railway Raises Earnings Forecast.

Sep. 9--TOKYO--Hanshin Electric Railway Co. said Tuesday it has raised its group earnings forecast for the first half and full-year of fiscal 2003 through next March 31.

The Osaka-based railway firm attributed the brighter earnings to the good showing of the Hanshin Tigers baseball team, which helped boost sales at some of its affiliates, such as Koshien Stadium, home of the Tigers, and department stores.

Hanshin Electric Railway is the parent company of the baseball team.

In its revised consolidated earnings forecast, Hanshin expects a net profit of 2.08 billion yen in the first half against a profit of 1.58 billion yen ...
