New York City emigrants fuel Orange County growth.

Sep. 19--They cross the Hudson River and the Delaware in SUVs and moving vans, heading west and north, clutching maps and Realtors' business cards and advertisements for the American Dream.

For New York City residents seeking a little land and a better life, there is no hotter Hudson Valley destination than Orange County.

In a five-year stretch, the number of people moving from New York City to Orange County has increased 47 percent. The Bronx-to-Orange connection is particularly strong, jumping 57 percent during the same period.
