Sep. 20--DANIELSVILLE, Ga. -- Jimmy Porterfield hears about most everything going on in Madison County from the perch of his front porch in downtown Danielsville.
His store, Jimmy's Trade Shop, offers a commanding view of the county courthouse and sells a variety of goods. But on a midday afternoon, talk's free at the shop as Porterfield kicks up his boots on the porch.
And these days it's recently released property assessment notices that have tongues wagging in Madison County.
Sent out in July, the 2004 assessment notices show big increases on several county properties, attributed to rising construction costs and a countywide ...
