Travel literature might have begun with the Old Testament account of Exodus; it now extends through Wyoming author Ted Kerasote, who has written a decidedly 21st-century tale of a two-week canoe trip down the remote Horton River in the Northwest Territories.
In "Out There: In the Wild in a Wired Age" (Voyageur Press, 160 pgs, $16.95), Kerasote does an elegant job mixing histories of previous Horton River travelers - some of whom did not return - with his modern trip.
