NEW YORK -- While women with hereditary hair loss do not like to discuss it, the condition can cause them to feel unattractive, depressed and alone.
And with 24 million American women--one in four across the country--suffering from it, the American Academy of Dermatology in August inaugurated Hair Loss Awareness Month.
A recent survey conducted by Women's Rogaine manufacturer Pfizer Consumer Healthcare reveals that half of all women feel that their hair is their most attractive feature. That may explain why 54% of the women polled admitted they would rather gain 15 pounds than lose their hair.
