Sep. 23--NBC Universal is getting ready to launch its next daytime talk show diva: Vanessa Williams.
She is close to signing a deal for a syndicated TV gabfest that could air as soon as next fall, sources said.
The show would tape in New York and target women aged 25 to 50, an insider said. Williams and NBC Universal declined comment. No contract has been signed.
NBC, a relative newcomer to the syndication business, could use a hit. The much-touted, just-launched "Jane Pauley Show," has so far flagged in the ratings.
