Sep. 23--Mitsu Yamazaki remembers the exact day he landed at New Orleans' airport from his native Japan.
It was Oct. 21, 1995. Yamazaki could speak only a few English phrases and was on his way to the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg. He was the first member of his family to attend a university, to leave Japan and to learn another language.
Today, Yamazaki, 29, is the newest vice president of the San Antonio Economic Development Foundation, the privately funded organization that recruits business relocations and expansions to the city.
