Graphic design is the use of graphic elements and text to communicate ideas or information to specific audiences. It is, in essence, a visual language that helps to convey the meaning and context of the written word. When done successfully, it attracts attention, adds credibility and enhances the messages you are sending.
In a typical utility, graphic design is most commonly-used to create marketing materials that wind up in customers' hands, but it also has other uses. Safety decals and signs are designed to convey important information in an instant. The company logo, letterhead and business cards are designed to convey corporate identity.
