Sep. 23--Ann Terry says she hasn't turned her back on public education despite choosing to home-school her seventh-grade daughter this fall.
"Just because I'm home-schooling doesn't mean I'm giving up on the public schools," said Terry, who researched countless city schools before deciding to teach Molly Rappold, 12, at their Bellerose home.
Terry decided she'd try to improve the system from the outside -- in hopes of being able to re-enroll her daughter. She also has been working to start a charter or alternative school, the School for Democracy, in her neighborhood.
