LAS VEGAS -- Shopping centers will have to change their store mix just to keep pace in the next few years, a leading retailer told the annual convention of the International Council of Shopping Centers here.
Kenneth Macke, chairman and chief executive officer of Dayton Hudson Corp., said shopping centers risk losing volume during the next few years if they focus only on the same stores as in the past.
"I believe the number of shoe chains and jewelry stores in many of the regional malls has gotten out of hand," Macke said.
