Article: New Mexico man dies from West Nile complications.

2004 SEP 27 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- A 68-year-old Bernalillo County, New Mexico, man has died of complications from West Nile virus, the state Health Department confirmed September 7, 2004.

The man's death due to encephalitis was the second caused by West Nile in New Mexico this year, the department said.

The man had been hospitalized in Albuquerque. His infection with West Nile virus was among a group announced by the department last week.

"Although serious cases are very rare, this is a sad reminder that West Nile virus is in our state and anyone of us could become its victim," said Health Secretary-designate Michelle Lujan Grisham.
