The roof on the historic Seward House in Auburn is being prepped for a new look.
Contractors from Holt Painting in Syracuse have been sandblasting off the old paint and applying primer in preparation for two coats of a brick-red colored paint.
Executive Director Peter Wisbey said he didn't know if this was the exact color of the roof when the family of William H. Seward lived in the mansion, "but it's pretty typical 19th-century roof color."
For the past two summers, contractors have been working to restore the exterior of the house to how it looked in the 1860s.
