Earth-sized exoplanets should soon be discovered
PEOPLE assimilate change easily. Mobile phones, a rarity in 1990, are now taken for granted in much of the world. When Neil Armstrong landed on the moon 35 years ago, the Earth stopped to look and listen. Now, manned spaceflight is banal. And when the first "exoplanet"--a planet orbiting a star other than the Earth's own sun--was discovered in October 1995, it was a remarkable moment.
