THE PHOENIX COYOTES DELIVERED a respite from all the tension regarding this season when they signed Brett Hull to a two-year contract in July.

Hull, who has played his entire career in the Western Conference--with Detroit since 2001--has scored 741 goals in his 18-year NHL career, more than any other active player. In fact, he ranks third all-time behind Wayne Gretzky, a member of the Coyotes' management team, and Gordie Howe.
