Michael L. Douglas is the first Black Supreme Court justice in Nevada's 140-year history. Douglas, 56, was appointed to replace Justice Myron Leavitt, who died earlier in the year. Prior to his history-making appointment, Douglas sewed as chief judge of the eighth judicial district for the state of Nevada. He has also served as presiding judge of the civil division for the eighth judicial district, deputy district attorney of Clark County's District Attorney's Office and directing attorney of Nevada Legal Services Clark County Program.
