we finally watch the war
we missed on nightly news
"Operation Overlord"
Convoys strewn across the English
Channel
In the lead: battleships, cruisers, destroyers
Guns blaze toward the Normandy shore
After every commercial break
the same gray scene
helmeted silhouettes splashing onto the
beach
square-hunched with packs
and every time I stare at the soldier on the
