According to its "Stay Smart" brand managers, the Effie-winning Holiday Inn Express commercials show ordinary people in extraordinary situations, exhibiting newly enhanced intelligence, skill, or artistic ability after a night at the hotel. Of the many versions currently receiving airtime, my personal favorite is the depiction of a biosafety laboratory, its workers replete with complicated protective gear and flexible oxygen tubes, studying the so-called deadly A5 virus.
