Sep. 29--The latest Washington cliffhanger has nothing to do with George Bush or John Kerry. It's actually more of a nostalgia piece.
If you're old enough (or watch a lot of cable reruns), imagine it as one of those old Alfred Hitchcock-type movies set in 1950s middle-America. At the end of the street lives the warm-hearted, white-haired matron -- let's call her Aunt Fannie -- who's always there with cookies and advice.
