Sep. 30--Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger on Wednesday vetoed a bill by Assemblyman Darrell Steinberg to provide more affordable housing funds to the Sacramento region.
The legislation, AB 1426, would have earmarked up to $1 million in state housing bond money for cities and counties meeting the terms of a voluntary housing compact created this year by the Sacramento Area Council of Governments.
Governments joining the compact pledge to make sure 10 percent of their new housing is affordable to people with moderate, low and very low incomes.
