When the acclaimed Scripps Research Institute announced it would establish a major biotechnology science center in Palm Beach County, those plans were seen as a catalyst for Florida's burgeoning biotech industry and as a watershed event in state economic development.
The $510 million state and local commitment to Scripps--the largest-ever state industrial investment--will result in Scripps' collaborations with Florida's businesses, universities, community colleges and public school districts.
