Will contemporary ballet ever emerge from the shadow of George Balanchine, who died in 1983?
"No, I really don't think so," said Boston choreographer Margot Parsons, whose newest work appears this weekend in "Dance Showcase 2004" at Boston University, where she has taught ballet technique for many years.
"I don't know when we'll see anything quite like Balanchine," she said. "What he did was brilliant, and who do we have to take over? Almost any other choreographer, Jiri Kylian and so on, they all mix styles."
