BLACKSBURG, Va. _ The moment was coming.
Virginia Tech coach Frank Beamer knew as long as his kick-block units kept attacking, the game-breaking play was going to come.
It happened in the second quarter Saturday against No. 6 West Virginia, when a blocked field goal turned into a 74-yard touchdown run that fueled Tech to a 19-13 win at Lane Stadium. The block may have saved Virginia Tech's season while ending the Mountaineers' hopes for a national title.
The win gives Tech an excellent chance at a six-win season and its 12th consecutive bowl. Last year, Tech went to Morgantown, W.Va. ranked No. 3 and had hopes of ...
