Dec. 7--IRVINE, Calif.--Two high-tech companies are pulling out of Orange County, adding more than 300 people to the unemployment rolls as they move operations out of the area.
Flextronics International's Multek unit laid off 310 workers Friday as it shut down a circuit-board plant in Irvine, moving that work to Guadalajara, Mexico, and to Roseville, a Sacramento suburb. Software maker Phoenix Technologies said it's closing offices in Irvine and in Louisville, Colo., that employed a total of 60 workers, because it's expanding in Taiwan and Japan, not the United States.
